The texts

Honestly, E companions send two kinds of text message, and only to people who said yes: a short note when a written reflection or letter is ready, with a link to My Life, and an occasional reminder of a companion call that was scheduled. That is the program. There is no marketing in it.

How you said yes

Either on a call — the companion asked whether you would like a note texted to the number you were calling from, and you said yes — or on our website, where you entered a mobile number and ticked the box asking for texts. Consent is never assumed, and it is never sold or shared.

How often

Message frequency varies. Typically one text after a conversation you had with a companion, and an occasional reminder of a call you scheduled. Message and data rates may apply.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message and the texts end. You can also turn them off in My Life under Settings, or write to us. Reply START to begin again.

Carriers

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Texts are supported on the major U.S. carriers; if yours does not deliver them, the same note is always waiting in My Life.

The rest of the service

Conversations with a companion are recorded and transcribed so that your story can be kept and written; that is what you are here for. Companions are computer voices, made to listen — they are not people, not clinicians, and not a substitute for care. If you are in crisis, call or text 988. Companions may make mistakes; nothing they say is medical, legal, or financial advice. Your story is yours: see our Privacy Policy for what we keep and who can see it, and how to delete it. A Life Story commission is a one-time purchase; a subscription can be paused or cancelled at any time in My Life. Honestly, E is a Desta-Nation product. Last updated September 22, 2026.
